        Meegama

Ravinda Meegama is a Senior Professor in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He has BSc degree (First Class) in Computer Science from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, MSc from AIT, Thailand and PhD from NTU, Singapore. His research interests primarily focus on exploring the intersection of image processing and artificial intelligence. This work involves developing novel algorithms and models for tasks such as image segmentation, object detection, image recognition and medical image analysis. By leveraging the power of AI, Professor Meegama aims to address complex challenges in fields like computer vision, healthcare and autonomous systems. He has published extensively in top-tier journals and conferences and their research has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. He is actively involved in the academic community mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Lately, he has also been deeply intrigued by subjects such as human evolution, galaxies and cosmology, reflecting broad intellectual curiosity beyond core research areas.
